zodiac signs

I knew nothing about astrology before I created this project. I was curious what all the hype was about, so I did my research and then proceeded to launch this series, which took roughly 3 months. In my research I learned about a set of systems in place that I wanted to express visually. Each zodiac sign has its own symbol, visual form, color and elemental icon. Using these systems I created a template, and illustrated each Zodiac sign to work as a set of 12.

inktober

In the month of October, there is an annual drawing challenge organized by an artist on Instagram. This challenge is called #Inktober. The organizer comes up with a list of 31 word prompts, one word per day. Artist around the world are tasked to illustrate each daily word with their own creative interpretation. Black & white art is encouraged, to emulate the traditional look of ink. Below are my favorite pieces that I created this past year.

mandalas

I’ve always been inspired by psychedelic art. When I discovered that Procreate (iPad drawing tool) had assisted symmetry features, I became obsessed with it! I experimented with different types of shapes, colors and textures. Eventually I arrived on an idea to create a series of mandalas made of mushrooms. I worked on this series for nearly a year. I have created several t-shirt graphics from my designs. Eventually I moved on from the visuals of mushrooms, and began drawing faces instead. You’ll see a few examples of these further down the page.
